Magnus was a member of the ancient Black Lotus, a group which wants to cleanse the world of people with Gifts. When he infiltrated Azra with two other men, young Sunny was supposed to kill him, but he let him live instead, which led to the downfall of Azra. Magnus then became the leader of the outpost Razor Ridge. He abducted Kannin and brainwashed her into his sex slave and tool.
In "Requiem for the Fallen", Sunny attempts to form an alliance with the Black Lotus to defeat Pilgrim, but Magnus refuses to work together with him. Instead, Magnus instigates a fight, going one-on-one with Sunny, resulting in both being disarmed. The fight is interrupted by the sudden arrival of Kannin, who has been drained of her Gift by Pilgrim. Together, Sunny and Kannin overpower Magnus and Kannin snaps his neck, killing him. With Magnus dead, Kannin demands that the Black Lotus join them in the fight against the greater threat.
