Ankara, also known as the Mad Witch, is a former Master at Abbot Monastery and currently resides at Vulture’s Peak in the North Lands.
Biography[]
She was the person that Magnus manipulated into giving him the location of Azra, leading to the city's destruction at the hands of the Black Lotus. She was Bajie’s first Master, but was later banned by the Abbots for her unconventional ways. Before her banishment, she told Bajie to seek out the Azran book and compass in order to send out a signal to Azra, which he eventually did, although she did not inform him that it would actually contact Pilgrim and not save the world like he thought. Bajie and his traveling companion Sunny eventually seek her out to heal Henry. Ankara relieved the child’s suffering temporarily, however, she thinks that the real answer to their problems lies within Pilgrim. She revealed that a person more powerful than her had made Sunny’s Gift dormant and that it was Pilgrim, who had answered to Bajie’s call to Azra.
Sunny eventually traveled to find Ankara once again alongside Nix after successfully curing Henry, due to them needing her help in order to stop Pilgrim's conquest for the world. The two of them eventually meet with Bajie and the Widow, and they begin taking Ankara back to the Abbot Monastery to enlist her help. The Widow and Nix have to depart to deal with a different threat, leaving Sunny and Bajie to watch Ankara. The three of them are tracked down by Magnus and other members of the Black Lotus, who use flash grenades to knock out Sunny and injure Ankara and Bajie. Magnus kills Bajie and fatally wounds Ankara, before departing with Sunny as a hostage. With her last bit of strength, Ankara uses her Gift to bring Bajie back to life, before succumbing to her wounds.
